Hi, guys,

I think this website is not only well organized and very functional, but also cool and fun. Long life to WayToRussia!
However, I notice that you are oriented more towards tourism-travel-shortterm issues, than to basic-living-longterm ones, such as job opportunities, permanent residence, ... In short: your ideal target seems to be the well-informed tourist, not the expatriate foreigner.
Considering the difficulties of your language (learning Russian is kind of an old-fashioned marriage, not just a love-affair), as well as the great appeal of your wonderful country, I'm sure that there must be some other people out there (besides me) who could be interested in actually living in Russia, not just touring around it.
For instance: I would like to know if it could be possible to make a living teaching Spanish there. Any clues?

Best wishes,

Marta

Hi, Marta.

To live in Moscow you need about 600$ per month (300$ for a small apartment, 150$ for the food, 150$ for the rest).
The teachers of foreighn languages earn about 20 US$ per hour (if you are native speaker). So you will need to have 30 lessons a month. The usual person who is studing language has 3-4 hours a week, so you will need to find about 10 students.
With the actice advertising in Spanish culture center, language related sites in Russian internet and classifieds section of MoscowTimes you can get 10 students in a month (spending about 200$ on it).

This is no the official reccommendation, just rough calculations. You can also reach Spanish Cultural Center in Moscow for job opportunities.

Hi, Dan,

Thanks a lot!

I see that Moscow is more or less so expensive as Barcelona (I'm paying 350 $ for a small apartment, and the other expenses are pretty much the same).

I may sound too demanding, but as you have been so kind to answer my question, I dare to place another one: Do you think that there is a particular interest in Spanish language and culture in Russia right now? Are there many native Spanish speakers (Spaniards or Latinos)?

Best wishes,

Marta

Hey, Marta.
That's always cool to see someone who is interested in Russia !
To answer your question: English is not enough now in Moscow. So there are many people are interested in the second language and often it's italian or spanish.
When would you like to go to Moscow?
