Hi eveyone,

I have a few questions today.

1. What happens if the Communist Parties canadate is elected as predent? Will Russia go back to being the USSR?

2. Do other Russians other than the elders think things were better with the Communists?

And the last one.

3. Is there a posibillity Russia will go back to the USSR? (With the agreements with Belarus to intgrated the rouble and possably land.)

If someone could help me with these questions I would greatly appricate it. I writing a paper on Post- Soviet Eastern Europe. So far the serveys I have taken say most people think that comunsium will either come back or a similar Revloution like the 1917 one witll take place again.

Thanks
Zach

No, there is no communist canditate in Russia anymore. Now we have Putin and his party, they are slowly but successfully monopolizing the power in our country, but they are not communists.

Nobody thinks about communists anymore here, this is simply not the issue anymore. People think we're moving towards an authoritarian state with some elements of democratic countries (like ability to be involved in a private business, competition, free trade, etc.).

To answer your question about USSR -- no, the communist state will never exist again, however, there is a possibility of the former USSR countries forming a new economic union (something like EU) and of Belarus becoming a part of Russia. But it won't be anything near USSR.

Thanks everyone,

Just a little clouded by reading a few books.

Does anyone know where I can buy via-internet Russian stuff with the state seal on it (Russian Eagle) i.e. bags, hats, shirts, FSB pins.

i do not agree fully

yes, the communist party as was will never return. times have changed.

But, the communist party or one of its successors(they are actually involved in a split/dispute ) hopefully will transform in a sort of socialist party, not so different of many european examples. maybe even join into a block with 'democratic' parties that search for a more compassionate liberalism

A more social approach to issues as economy, health care etc.. instead of the radically liberal point of view enacted by Jeltsin and some of Putins aides, as far as i can understand is deeply wished for.
