Fire_G. You need to calm down and understand that when you rent an apartment, not only the landlord does not have to check your SS number, in many cases you would not even want to reveal your SS number to the landlord. The laws concerning renting property are very different from employment laws and regulations. It's perfectly legal, for example, to sell and rent property to foreign citizens. Here in New York, many wealthy Europeans buy vacation property, just as they do in Miami. Many diplomats rent or own apartments in New York.

As usual, you are mixing different things because you know very little about the issues you're arguing about, as I told you before.

When you check into a hotel room, do they ask you for your SS card? And how is summer short-term rental different from a hotel room?

In other words - trying to be as simplistic as I can - there's a huge difference between employing someone in your firm and renting your private property to that someone. Emolyment is covered by federal and state laws that include loads of regulations. I can rent out my room for cash to anybody and it's my own business who that is.

Think about it. You're not making any sense.

I dont know what rat holes you are involved in either renting or renting out, but credit checks are run on would be tenants. As usual you are wrong, and now you are ranting and raving. You really need to stop getting so worked up Mrspice.

Actually, all the people that I rent the house out to are legals with work visas. They have to leave by I believe October, and they do. You couldn't even read my post correctly. No where in there I stated that I rented out to illegals.

Credit checks are not required to rent anything and are actually not used much at all considering they don't have any credit here in the first place. There is no sense in checking all their information. As long as they pay me my rent and are peaceful, I am happy.

Fire_Goddess, I am afraid you are a typical liberal American who doesn't know his hand from his ass giving our country a bad name. Once again I must stress that you are trying to make points that are totally invalid. You need to look up your laws before you accuse me of breaking them. K thanks.

I suggest you read your own post about that little roller coaster operator, and I also suggest you read up on your states laws on fair housing and discrimination. You are a typical greedy American who wants all the benefits of being American, but none of the responsibility. Keep on breaking the law, and being a slumlord.

Credit checks are run by most landlords when they want to make sure that their perspective tenant will pay and be a good tenant. But they are not required by law. Obviosly, most landlords run credit checks on the new tenants - that makes practical sense. However, some people (students, for example) may have zero credit history and in those cases credit checks are useless. If you own a house in California, you can legally rent it out for cash for a month, get a deposit, ask the tenant to sign a letter and that's it. You have no obligation to ask for your tenant about his legal status and you would not be responsible if that tenant happens to be an illegal immigrant.

She does not know anything. Using her logic, any ad in a non-English newspaper would constitute discrimination because you would solicit people who are not native English speakers. You can put up sings in russian or any other language in this country. As long as you don't use the language that explicitly states that you prefer certain types of people or it can be proven that you select people based on their ethnic features or color, you are not breaking any laws.

HERE IS INFO YOU NEED in Russian
#1 Says "House for Rent for the Summer":
#2 says "House for Rent for 10 people"
#3 says "Great House for Rent, Very Affordable. Call 201-000-00-00"

1) Дом в Аренду на Лето
2) Дом в Аренду для 10ти Людей
3) Отличный Дом в Аренду. Недорого! Звоните: (201)000-00-00
