Privet! I tried to find a way to go by train from Engels in Saratov Oblast to St. Petersburg because a friend of mine told me to be the best way to go from Saratov to St. Petersburg, but I couldn't find the train connections in the website. How can I find out itineraruies, schedules and prices etc of trains?

hi Richard

there's a direct train Saratov-St. Petersburg, number 089, an express. the train originates in Astrakhan, pulls into the station at Saratov at 08:41, and then takes off direction St Petersburg at 09:20. the train goes through Saratov on odd dates - Oct 7, 9, 11 etc, then Nov 1, 3 etc.

in St Petersburg, the train arrives to the Moscow Station (Moskovsky Vokzal), at 13:20 the following day. so you spend exactly 28 hours en route. have no idea how much it is though. suppose somewhere around 1000 rubles for kupe, or second class, but i could be wrong.

all times given are Moscow Time. Saratov must be one hour ahead, isn't it?

so far as i know there's no train station in Engels, but then it's right across the Volga from Saratov, right?

have a great ride!

Peter
