I am an Irish citizen.

On my vsa application form it asks if I have medical cover valid in Russia. It refers to an official medical protection plan. Does anyone know anything about this?

John,

You'll need to be a little more specific if we're to help you - your post has had fifty views and I'm the first to reply. What do you actually want to know?

It just means standard holiday insurance with medical cover that is valid in Russia and will cover you for the duration of your stay. Buy it and tick the box.

I don't know about Ireland, but I believe the UK has a reciprocal agreement with Russia for basic emergency medical aid; the holiday insurance will give you the extras like compensation for injuries and being flown home in an air ambulance.

Here is an example:-

Is Assist Card a valid travel insurance in Russia, at least to the Russian Authorities that may ask me for an insurance?

I'm planning to buy one for my future trip, but I'd be dissapointed if it wasn't valid there, or if it wasn't valid enough.
