Ciao!
I'm going to be in Moscow this coming summer doing an internship with the military. I have a friend in Saratov and want to visit her.
I'd like a heads up on the train travel there.
Does anyone know how long a trip it is from Moscow to St. Petersburg, and also to Saratov?
Also, i'd love some pointers on what to see in the country to make my stay memorable.

Mandy,
There are overnight trains to St Pb. They take around 7 hours and there are quite a few every day. Your choice.
Check out www.poezda.net for train schedules. If you want some help with this,
email me at ctefehinoz@hotmail.com.
If your Russian isn't very good, I have a little cheat sheet (from Bryn Thomas's Trans-Siberian Handbook) to give to the ticket clerk.
If you book these tickets via a travel agency from outside Russia you'll be ripped off chronically.....
