I have read a lot of threads in this forum about using a non-Russian cell phone with a Russian SIM card. I am still uncertain on two issues:
It is frequently mentioned that the phone has to be unlocked first. I used my American Motorola phone in the UK with a local pre-paid SIM card without any problem. Does it mean my phone is already unlocked?
How much is a Russian SIM card? And how troublesome is it to buy one in St. Petersburg? Some people in the forum have suggested ordering a SIM card from the following website, which offers one that costs US$59. Is this what a SIM card costs in Russia?

Hi! You can buy a russian sim card for 150 rubles (about $5.5) and this amount will already be on ur account. Even if the sim card will not work with your cell 5 bucks is not a biggie
