Hello all!
I wonder if someone can clarify for me a question on the Certificate of No Impediment to Marriage.
I am a U.S. Citizen planning to marry in Russia this winter, and I have all of the documents I need - (Passport, Visa, Apostilled Birth Certificate, and Divorce Decree, etc. only needing all to be translated)
However, my lady says that the ZAGS office gave her a list of documents needed by me, and one of the required items is a Certificate of No Impediment to Marriage, or, if not that, a notaried affidavit of my marital status. My question is, : Isn't the Apostilled Divorce Decree I have supposed to fulfill that same purpose of the Certificate of No Impediment.? Or, do I need to have it in addition to the apostilled Divorce papers?
I have looked on the Way to Russia site on Marrying in Russia, but it did not address this question - it only mentioned the Certificate - and besides - the information there is geared mostly toward English Citizens wanting to marry in Russia.
I thank you in advance for you reply -
Great site, by the way!

Try a search on Google for the RWL archives...those guys in there have "been there and done that" so I'm sure they could help you.
I'm a member of the forum and they walked me though every inch of my first trip and are now helping me do the K-1 and K-2 Fiance and Child's Visa to bring my girls to the US.
Hopes this helps and good luck....I understand that marriage in Russia is not the way to go...takes to long and is to complicated to get your girl here.
