|
|
Hi,
I've just been quoted 4480 rubles for my car transfer from Sheremetyevo to the National Hotel (royal meridien). I only have a short visit and I'm travelling on my own so I definitely want a car pick up, but it seems incredibly expensive! Am I paying too much?
Thanks,
Naomi |

| That's way too expensive. I only paid about half that the one time I had to use the sharks waiting at the airport (our plane was so late that our driver had to leave). |

Thank you for your replies. I e-mailed the hotel expressing my surprise at the price, and the concierge called me tonight very apologetic (apparently she had quoted for a different airport). The price is $130.00US, which I can live with.
Thanks again,
Naomi |

| Godzillas Hostel quoted me R1,300 for a taxi pick-up from SVO. Is that reasonable? |

| 1300 rubles sounds reasonable to me (recall that the original poster was originally quoted 4480) |

I agree. 1,300 rubles is about right. Try contacting Elena Mikhaylova as she has arranged for my transfer travel in August a rate of about $50US. She'll even have her driver accept other "non ruble" forms of payment upon pickup at SVO. Here is her email: moscowguide@rambler.ru
Her rate as a tour guide is quite reasonable as well. www.yourmoscowguide.com. |

If you like some adventure and brutal, negociate at the airport about the prices with the taxidriver.
My girlfriend needed a taxi from SVO2 to SVO1 and at the end she only paid 350 RUB including the help of the taxidriver to get her luggage (4 suitcases/bags) into the terminal!!
Happy travelling and don't forget to enjoy!
