Hey!

I applied for visa support for a tourist visa through waytorussia, but as of yet haven't received the documents. I am planning to visit a friend in Krasnodar, without staying in a hotel. But IntelService has informed me that I must stay at a hotel, otherwise I'll have trouble getting my visa registered, and ultimately trouble with the police there. But waytorussia says on their website that there should be no problems registering the visa through the affiliate agencies (that is the reason that it costs $30, they say), and a person need not stay in a hotel, in fact they say you can stay anywhere. So what is the truth?

Appreciate any help.

I am going to Krasnodar in Sept. I got my visa support through WTR, which they stated that I would staying in the Intourist hotel in the city, even though I am staying with my husband's family. I submitted this support, along with my visa application, and received my visa in less than a week. Once I get to Kransnodar, I will go to the hotel and have them register my visa, which I have been told they will do for a small fee. Good luck!

It's all super easy and really no big deal at all. My trip was a walk in the park. Had far worse troubles in other countries. But Russia needs to do away with the registration-it's pointless. Well perhaps it does generate money.

Thanks for the moral boost. From yours and other posts on this forum, it all sounds like a piece of cake. I have emailed IntelService a couple of times, basically wondering (I try to be tactful) what the problem is. After all, I am just following WTR's recommendation on this. Well, they say they can send me the visa support, but practically urged me to book a hotel (I thought they were supposed to do this!). Well, I guess I'll just start from the beginning and see if I can get this done. Thanks again for your responses.

SurfGuy, thanks--great information. I was wondering--did WTR with their visa support, guide you to this hotel? In other words, was this an affiliate of theirs? I don't suppose, that I could just waltz into any hotel in Krasnodar and try to register my visa, could I?

OK, let me ask you one more thing. When the WTR people send you the visa support, is the name of a hotel or affiliate agency listed on any of these documents? On the visa application form, line No. 39 asks for the name, address, and phone number of person or hotel in Russia, where you plan to stay. How do you handle that one? If it's listed on the visa support, then that is what I would write down on the visa application. But if visa support doesn't list a hotel, then what do you write down? I feel foolish asking these questions. Everyone else seems to be breezing through this process.

Good enough, Surfguy, I think I have a good handle on this now. I'm going to email IntelService and tell them to proceed as they normally would, and then I'll go from there. Thanks for the info. And Thank You waytorussia for a great website and forum.
