Hi, I am arriving into Tallinn on 19/12 and need to get to st Petersburg on the 22nd to start a tour.

Now I've heard that there are no trains between the two cities, is this so?

I've been told the best way is by bus, I've looked up eurolines and found a bus that leaves Tallinn at 7.00am and arraives around 3.00pmish. This sounds great and is not very expensive. The problem is I don't know how to book a seat from Australia over the internet.

How does one do this or should i do it in Europe, I get into central europe on the 1/12. Is this enough time as i cannot really afford to get into tallinn and find there are no more seats.

Also are the buses reliable in Winter, again I need to get to my tour

If anyone could answer these questions or provide a better way to get to st petersburg it would be help alot

Mathew

Yes you are right, there are no trains between those 2 cities, but there are 2 other options: the bus or the ferry.

The buses are comfortable and reliable and usually have tickets, because there are so many buses going between those cities and quite few passangers. For more information check the site www.eurolines.ee . I think you can book your tickets from Germany or other Central-European countries.
The ferry takes more time and is more expensive and slower, but on the other hand is comfortable and offers entertainment. Check site http://www.tallink.ee/en.html
