A few people have said on this site that i should avoid Moscow, and concentrate on st. pete, & other places because Moscow is overpriced.
Please explain, is it food, clubs, lodging.
And expensive compared to what.
I would appreciate any & all input Rolling Eyes

I agree with Alice...I couldn't imagine going to Russia without visting Moscow...I would think that expensive is as expensive as you want to make any city.
I live in a town of 5000 people, I could make it, for my self, more expensive than Moscow if I had a hankering to.

i agree with what people have said here.

personally though, yes, i find moscow a bit expensive...

but then again:

1) i'm staying at a hotel (sheraton palace)
2) i'm using their $30 a day wi-fi internet access and not internet cafes
3) i either call a car... get my friends who have a car to drive me around... or only go out with my friends and they get a cab/car.... i have never taken the metro/never seen the metro station ; i am still scared
4) i've been to great places
5) cigarettes in russia is cheap but in the philippines it's much cheaper Wink

but yeah, money really is the last thing on my mind right now because i am having SO much fun with my newfound friends.

i'm supposed to fly to st. petersburg earlier this afternoon (3PM, but 12noon departure from the hotel)... and i got back like 8AM - no sleep, drunk, haven't packed etc... so i'm flying tomorrow.

moscow is one great city. in the past week i've been here, i've made lots of new friends, seen how some muscovites live (elitny... and commoner...), een some great architechture, almost got killed in tverskaya because of the EXTRA wide roads (which i am not supposed to cross because there are underground walkways... but i chose to cross to avoid govnyiki/gobnyiki people) etc

i LOVE LOVE MOSCOW!!!!!

Scared of the metro, yet you walk across tverskaya ul, you are a brave man, but somewhat stupid.

If you are scared of the metro, wait until you have your flight to St Petersburg, hold on tight.

The first time I came-up out of the metro with my fiance and saw Tverskaya. I thought..nooooo way is this girl gonna ask me to walk across THAT!...
I think she might have seen the terror in my eyes and on my face and started laughing...she then took my arm and moved me to the underground walk way...whew!...I liked those underground walk ways...!!

For some unknown reason, when I've been to Russia, I seemed to not have encountered all the problems I read about on this forum and a couple others...

Am I ugly or something, do I smell bad, do I look to mean to fuss with?

Just my worthless $.2 cents worth

lol

i'm staying at the sheraton palace

i have always walked thru tverskaya (tverskaya-yamskaya)

i just can't use the underground walkways. i can't.

i am scared.

the 'trick' in crossing tverskaya is to wait for the stop light on one side

then run for your life

then stand in the middle of the road (if you're lucky, you can go straight to the opposit side)

if not, wait for the stop light to turn red again

and cross.

Smile

i've done this like hmmm 4 or 5 times.

Smile
