How are you making out with all your suitcases?

Watch out for the gypsies in spb, they will be looking for you. Mr. Green

Compare Moscow to Tokyo.

Given than in Moscow things are more expensive than in Tokyo:

Moscow is less comfortable.
Service in Moscow is consistently rude.
Moscow has bad food. Moscow has few restaurants.
Moscow has a dirty, unorganised, subway system.
Moscow's airport is not connected to the city.
Trains to St.-Petersburg are slow.
The police are not helpful.
Despite being run by a KGB man, the country has terrorists running around the capital.

Bullshit comparison
Let us compare. Cost of property in Tokyo, or high suicide rate, the number of times Godzilla crushed it. Ooops that was a movie.
Food is different.
Subways in Moscow are better than many others in the world.
Moscow has a lot cafes, but not as varied, but it is onlt recently started to become multiculturaled.
Many cities have Airports than are not connected.
Police are not helpful and service sucks, yep.
Russia does have the worst service that I have encountered. I order a cup of mud or better known as a Turkish Coffee and the waitress wander off with her friend taking pictures of themselves at the fountains then overcharged me while this dumbass guitar player was trying bully in pay for him to sing. It is funny though Russian run stores in Canada are the best service.

yep..

service in moscow DEFINITELY sucks.

it took at least 35 minutes for a waitress to bring me a bottle of mineral water and gin tonic..

i learned something from my russian friends

if i'm gonna order a couple of drinks, it's best to order them all in one go, rather than one after another

for instance, if i'm gonna have 2 gim tonics, a vodka and red bull, and mineral water, it's best to order all of em now.

I'm still not sure why service still sucks. Obviously, some people are leaving tips. Don't they see any incentive to work harder, be more polite, for the hope of earning a tip? In Japan, by the way, tips don't exist. Instead everyone gets paid better.

On the other hand, a few small places (that don't accept tips) are becoming more polite.

If you're from the United States and you plan to go to Russia, go soon! The U.S. Dollar exchange rate is dropping like a rock.

Sad I am waiting to go to Russia for an adoption and I am watching my projected expenses increase as the USD/RR exchange worsens almost daily. There is nothing I can do about it though. (just saving more ) DennisF

What is this tverskaya?? I am leaving tomorow for Moscow to be with my girlfriend. Also how is the metro scary? I live in philly and i take septa busses and trains all the time to get around. There are also people asking for money and poor black people. So how is it different?

Has the currency rate changed?? I last heard it was 27.8*****

How is Russian food? I am very picky with American food i hope i will survive.

Also i am going to Amsterdam first. Do i have to check my bags in Amsterdam Airport to get to Moscow? Or will it automatically be switched to go to Moscow? I am only 19 and never traveled alone or outside of US. Actually i never left the tri state area!

tverskaya is the main street in Moscow. Street is called Ooletsa.

Metro is wicked. No worries besides make a fool of yourself putting in the token.
Generally Russians are more proud than Americans to beg. They will sell produce on the road. Busker are excellent. A whole Orchestra was busking outside a metro station.

Currency always changes
Russian is better IMHO than American food. Best Yogurt in the whole world!!!!
Kefir I did not like though. Russian breakfast is the same style as American with a little twist.

Automatically transferred.

Do me a favour, keep a list of phone number in case of emergency and enjoy !!!

Wi-Fi access is FREE at the Starlight Diner, Moka Loka (a coffee shop,) TGI Friday's, the Hard Rock Cafe, and more than two dozen other places. I can't believe you're paying 30 bucks a day. ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

Russian food is like Grandma food - lots of fish, potatoes, cole-slaw style salad and chicken salad - in other words, lots of mayonaise in the salad. Russians generally use mayonaise in all of their salads. If you find something else, it's usually at a foreign restaurant. What we call 'salad' they call 'greek salad' or caesar's salad. Ok enough about salad - if you find any spicy food it's probably from the Caucasus region (ie 'shashlik' - kebabs) or Turkey (shaurma.) Russians love to munch on sliced bread with cheese, cucumbers, and sausages. Sometimes they will eat dried calmari or fish with beer the way that some people eat beef jerky.

Older men usually drink vodka, horrible Russian cognac or Gorilka (honey and pepper flavored Ukrainian vodka - surprisingly good for something so strong.) Women will do an obligatory shot and then stick with wine or something like juice. Young people all drink beer, which tends to immitate German or Czech beer. Strangely enough, they like Corona and have their own version, which is called Klinskoe Arriba, not to be confused with Siberian Korona. They also have their own version of tequiza.
