some of those stereotypes have something to do with reality. It is hard for many women especially in their 30s to find a russian guy to marry. I was told that by many russians. And when I lived in Russia 11 years ago that was also the case. I speak Russian and read russian press sometimes and think that it's not just a stereotype. |

Not as hard since there are more women than men in many Russian cities and if you consider men that have jobs and can support a family - those men are hard to find there. |

| some women would like to marry a westerner because of the passport. its not caused by a lack of guys in the country. russian women and western men who use those marriage agencies are both pathetic losers, both for different reasons. but thats fine maybe its a chance for them to change smth in their (as they think miserable) lives. |

no.
i was talking about the agencies that provide catalogues with women from developing countries to men in richer countries.
those men and women are not much intersted in personalitis of eahc other they all pursue objectives as improving their economical situation or sex life or whatever. thats pathetic. |

Well, Would you please explain if you think otherwise.What's the point using dating agencies if you life is OK? Maybe it's ok to use for russian women, well, women in russia who are unmarried even in 25 (having several higher educations, apt and normally paid jobs) are considered to be failures by society (dated quite many recently). So I understand them using the agency. But hey, i never saw a successful guy using stupid dating agencies and stuff like that. You've got confindce, cash so what stops you from coming to Russia and finding girl yourself? Can you tolerate risks huh?
Using dating agencies is like investing in CDs whilest dating by yourself is like venture investing, what gives higher returns? |

Yeah, according to latest stats for young to middle-aged people. The male:female ratio in Russia is currently is quite equal.
In small, tough towns you probably can find some gender inequality, and yeah, women do live longer than men.
Here both men and women are pressured to marry early in life, before 30. For anyone in their 30s it is pretty hard to get married either way, especially for women. I think it's the same for many countries, but maybe that starts in later age, say 35-40 years. Also women aren't really pressured to build a career as women in the US or western Europe are--the men are supposed to provide for the family. |
