Not to be critical, but that's a pretty vague question you're asking.

Your right, but I am asking a simple question. I am little worried about being some place I don't know about. If my question seems vague to you then maybe a Russian who lives in Moscow could answer it for me because that is where I will be going....but, Wink if you know something don't be vague about it!!!!!!

I'm an American woman who just returned from a solo 8-day trip to Moscow. Suffice it to say: you will be fine. Most people speak English if you have any kind of problem, but if you go to Russia properly equipped (i.e. keep reading these forums!), then you won't have any problems at all. Good luck!

I will not say that most people speak english, but you might chance upon a number of people who speak basic english in major cities, especially in touristy spots. People will help a lost tourist. A good old trusty phrasebook to study on your way there can help.

See http://www.waytorussia.net/Practicalities/HealthSafety.html and http://www.waytorussia.net/Practicalities/Women.html

Most of the advice given there is sound, try to take those precautions, but there is no need to be paranoid or start getting overly worried if things don't go as planned.

jo jo 7,

The place you are looking to go to is the US Embassy. That is their job, to help resolve situations for Americans. They will be glad to help you... during working hours.

Supposedly St Pete and perhaps Moscow too...are supposed to have information available...actual people out on the streets to assist tourist in time of need. You'll meet and people who will help you. It'll be a great experience for sure. Just watch out at rush hour on the metros...it's crazy!
