It seems like forum regulars don't post here anymore and not too many new people seem to want to join. It seems like it completely died lately.

The decrease in participation seems to be tied with the removal of the Non-Relevant folder. I think a lot of people liked that the forum was related to Russia, and they wanted to help people with questions from time to time, but also have the ability to socialize about different topics. Now that this option is no longer there, people have tapered off because I think they don't want to devote all of their time to answering different variations of the same questions.

That option is still here, in Talk Lounge. The only difference is that threads will be moderated.

I agree with Spice and krasatulya. The forum has lost it's zing since Not Relevant was closed. All you do is reassure people that they won't get eaten as soon as they hit the border.

I for one would like to see a bit of the entertainment that was here before return.

the socialization is good. I have noticed too that so many people take the easy route and ask redundent questions that have been answered many times. Personally I got sick of the attacks in the not relevant forums...but I did appreciate the openess of it.

I am not sure why you felt there was a need to do that. All the users need to register before they can post here. You can always disable the user or lock the tread anywhere. As you can see, the forum pretty much died. What is the point of having a forum with moderated topics when no one posts here anymore??

The principle was simple - don't like don't read.

I am not sure why would the site admins be so concerned with what was being said in the Not Relevant. The whole point of having a forum from business perspective is to attract as many users as possible. There's nothing to moderate since nothing is being posted. I think it's obvious.

Yeah, I'd have to agree that things aren't as interesting around here anymore. I used to be a fairly regular visitor to the forum up until a year or so ago. Things just got kind of stale in my opinion. I check things out once in a while, but I mostly find dull posts and leave the site. I also don't see the same people I did when I used to frequent the forum. I'll admit, with a 3 year old running my life, I don't have the same amount of time as I did before. I also miss the Moscow News even if it was rag journalism.

I agree...just didn't like the person that I was becoming. Plus my love interest in Russia has ended so I am on to new things/people.

I think it stepped over a line when people were being harassed away from the site. You can talk about anything you want in Talk Lounge. You just can't be rude about it. Why do you think that's a bad thing? Why would anyone want to go out of their way to be rude to another person? Are you saying that you enjoyed making personal attacks on other people? Thats why it was shut down. Please explain your point of view on this matter.

I haven't lost my interest in Russia and it's people. My son is from Russia, I have friends from Russia and I enjoyed the 3 weeks my wife and I spent in Russia. I've just become bored with this forum.

Well surfguy it's your choice (the same as everyones) to participate or not. I just ignored the things in the forum that did not interest me and left it to those that wanted to get involved.

So far everyone in this thread agrees that the forum has become repetitve and boring with variations of the same questions asked over and over. There are 2 in the visa section at the moment that have been answered many times.

I say bring back Not Relevant and breathe some life back in here. Plus I was travelling in Russia without ready access to the internet when it was shut off and do not know what happened. Would like to though.

What part of non relevent did you find the most attractive to you? You can talk about nothing in particular in talk lounge. And you can pm insults individually, or does it just feel better when everyone can see it?

Sure you can say anything you like but no one is doing it. Not even you. You were one of the most vocal before and have not posted anything for yonks.

Now you come out of wherever you were to disagree with Spice. Well at least it's a start. Laughing
