I have another question for you, Are there nail salons in Moscow? Nail Salons are the best. Can you get nail tips on them and acrylic? Is is strictlty manicures? Is is expensive?
Thanks, jo jo 7 |

There are plenty of beauty/hair/nail salons, but personally I have never tried doing a manicure in Moscow. Maybe Natasha can share some info on that
However I can recommend you a western-style salon for nail, hair, cosmetics, massage etc. They also have acrylic/gel nails. It's more expensive but they speak English and have excellent service. http://expatsalon.ru/ |

Mediashark/Natashadln,
Jo Jo 7's question reminded me! Out in Siberia, it appears that highly decorated and extended nails are all the rage. Freaked me out as I thought one relative had badly split nails until I looked closer and saw a virtual "Snowbound Tree Branches" Van Gogh done on every nail. And then I noticed a lot of the younger women (say sub 30) had this done.
Is that stuff popular in Moscow or "just SOOO this morning"?

Usualsuspect | It has been very popular in the U.S. for along time. I have had branches with little crystal diamonds on mine. It can be expensive if you go real fancy. I have paid $65.00 on mine before, but now I just to the normal full set extensions with a color or french look. Your right it's like Van Gogh paints on nails. The Asians here in America are the ones who owns most of the nail salons. Who would of thought that NAILS would be a prosporious business, uh!!!!! I wished I could have thought about it.

Great nails are hugely popular here in St Pete! A Russian friend of mine is a nail-artist (her words) and she could pretty much work 24/7 doing nails for her friends and contacts.... The most popular are the full set of nail extensions, with a delicate pattern painted on, preferably with sparkles and tiny gems - it's a real work of art, Faberge would be proud of some of this....
I speak from the perspective of a 35 year old guy with no nails. However (and yes I know i should know better....!) I did get her to paint the Russian flag on my left thumb nail, and it was a great talking point in bars and clubs. Don't let too many Russian guys see it tho, as they tend (wild generalization coming here, I apologize in advance) to take any display of non-macho conformity as a personal affront.....
Telling a girl she has "krasivi nokti" is a great way to get a smile
By the way – totally off topic, but has anyone else noticed (with increasing horror, like me) that Russian guys are now sporting “mullet” haircuts?!?! |

| Mullet hair cuts have been in style there for quite some time...they need to play the movie Joe Dirt and perhaps it will all sieze to be fashionable |

ah yes - the heels. awesome.
however - are Russian women rather....large-footed?
(just check out the toe length on some of those shoes.......................)
(thank God my fiance has normal-sized feet!) |
