Hello:
I am a Canadian living in Moscow on a multi visit business visa. I have to leave on Jan. 1st (6 mo) and return so as to reregister. I would like to do this as inexpensively and at the same time as quickly as possible...spending 4 days in London is not "cheap". Unfortunately, the time for travel is also the "high season".
I had wondered if I could go to Finland by bus, hop out at the border, get a stamp and return? But, I have a feeling those days of travel are now long gone as I believe I will need a Visa.
I would appreciate suggestions.......appropriate ones though.
Many thanks.

I don't quite understand you, why would a Canadian citizen need a visa for country like Finland? Any of the Baltic states, all EU now too would work as well in your case..

Unless I am missing something? Can an experienced expat back me up on this?

Thanks for gettting back to me. I am not entirely sure but when I checked on the Finnish website it appeared that all required a Visa except those countries within the Schel........Agreement. (Sorry, I don't know how to spell it!). I haven't been to their Embassy yet.

Yes, I think you are correct. Looking on various websites, it doesn't appear that I need one.
Thanks again

Finland is Schengen.. And as far as I remember a Canadian can get in without a visa. It would seem weird to me anyways..

Just my two cents. You know..i came across this company on the web the other day and it should thrill travel enthusiasts.. there is this site called Globester..and it offers some amazing fares for international tickets!!
The link is http://globester.com do visit that site.. trust me…it’s got some delightful fares at very low cost! I think it’s a must see.

A Canadian doesn't need a visa for Finland. Only needs a valid passport for stays of up to 3 months.

One idea would be to take the 24 hour train from moscow to crimea, ukraine ($40 each way), or fly (about $100 each way). you dont need a visa for ukraine and it is very beautiful here!
if you wanted, you could use the servcies of www.accesscrimea.com whilst you were here.
