Hi there again Admin, could you please answer this question:
We’re definitely are going ahead with visa support but have stumbled across a potential pitfall. From surfing the net we’ve found out that my passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date the visa expires. My current visa will expire on the 23rd Dec as i mentioned before – but what i’ve realised is that my passport expires on the 17th June 2006. This in turn means that if i date the invitation from the 24th Dec 2004 ( for 1 year) ending Dec 24th 2005 it transpires that when my 1 year visa runs out it would leave only 5 months and 3 weeks. This, far as i know would prevent be from obtaining the 1 year visa in the first place.
What i’d like to know is; would the visa people in a Russian consular deny me the visa in this case – or would i be ok?
Or alternately is it possible to date the invitation from the 15th Dec? Considering though my current visa is still valid at that time, would it hold any problems in getting the 1 year visa? If i apply for the 1 year visa before the 23rd Dec there will be an overlap of maybe a few days – will that be a problem? (holding 2 valid visas). Incidentally i could apply for a visa after the 23rd Dec with an invitation starting from the 15th Dec that in turn will leave me 6 months on my passport when it eventually runs out 23rd Dec 2005.
This is a real worry for both me and my wife – hope you can help once more.
Sincerely Andy + Lesya.

I think you can any of the two things you proposed -- they are both good. You can try the first option first, and if the consulate turns you down (which I doubt), then you can go with the second option.
