ok, faith in Russian winter restored a little,,,,,,,,,

Here are a couple of pics of ice in Fontanka canal, taken today from the bridge where Nevsky crosses the canal, sorry for terrible pic quality but they were taken on a crummy camera phone,,,,,

The largest chunk of ice in the second pic is about the size of a pool table, for reference.....

Well, there's still a lot of winter left, so keep posting pictures, they are nice to see. This is the skidoo trail I was on yesterday. Do you have any areas like this near you?

First you have to upload your photos to an online photo album, such as Flikr
To insert an image:
Click on the little Img box, then copy an image location. ( right click on an image, then left click on copy image location)
Right click to place cursor, then left click to get paste menu ( click paste )
Then click again on Img* box
Done deal

ok, my pics were just of a little side canal, but I have just walked over the bridge at the Hermitage, and the Neva is seriously full of ice now,,,,, and its MIGHTY cold with the wind clipping off the water, I can tell you! I did not take pics, but i will take a walk up there tomorrow with a decent camera in the daylight and post a few if they look good.

And just cos its a nice pic, nothing to do with ice, here is Hermitage Square I took on my phone a few minutes ago..... look at the flag, its blowing a gale which means its ****ing cold wind-chill!!!!

Hopefully Groobs will post many more for you, jo jo. But remember, he is in St Petersburg, not Moscow. The scenery should be similar though. Pretty nice pics for a camera phone.

I like Red Square in Moscow, and the Kremlin. The churches are also very impressive. Hopefully people will post some pics for us to see.

Just made it back from SF...it is stormy all through out California...100 mile hour winds, rain, snow and huge waves 25ft plus. Good to be home and out of the traffic! Yes when I arrived to St Pete there was ice in the Fontanka and by the time I left it was much warmer and the boats in the canal were starting to operate. I have to say that the beauty I noticed in St Pete is how they light the buildings up at night. It's very romantic.

It was good to be back home in the SF Bay Area and I went through some old neigborhoods with an ex and the houses were all decorated and the turn of the century architecture just made for some very scenic pictures and then looking out across the bay at the golden gate...we are all truly blessed with the places that we live and have here on earth. Yes St Pete is nice but once again I realize that I left my heart in San Francisco!
