hi
I am a south african passport holder travelling through the middle east. i will be in iran and turkey from about 1 jan to 1 march and after would like to go to russia.
1) which country is the better to get my tourist visa from
2) when applying for visa support from waytorussia how long is the support vaild for?
3)the visa is valid for 1 month, but how long after issue must i enter russia
4)when applying for support, are the dates i say i will enter russia fixed in stone. i still dont know exactly when i will enter russia.

1. Any country in Europe. I don't know about Turkey. Definitely not in Iran.
2 & 3. The tourist visa support can be issued the earliest 45 days before your planned trip. You can apply for a tourist visa that's valid for 1 month, and you will be able to travel anytime within this time span.
4. No, not fixed.

If you want to allow yourself a bigger timespan, you can apply for a business visa support (it's just a name -- you don't need to have a business in Russia). These visas provide more flexibility, and you can apply for a 3-month double entry, for example. The only problem is that most probably the Russian consulate will require an original invitation, so it's better to get it before you start traveling. You can also get a TELEX.
