Ok..
I'm leaving St. Petersburg in about 4 hours to fly to Moscow.
And last night I had a small mini goodbye party at my hotel with 7 Navy Cadets I met in the past few days.
They were all nice and friendly and quite sweet.
They even gave me small presents, simple things like a small pocket calendar, a pin, and a Navy striped sweater/shirt..
I actually feel guilty cause I didn't have anything to give them when they gave me presents....
i'll definitely miss them. we talked about lives in general... apparently, i'm also the first foreign person they've known... |

And I'm interested. If you look at the first posts of bryanboy, he said he was scared to go to Russia. And it's great to see that he actually had nice time, met a lot of people, and enjoyed his trip. |

| It is great that Bryan made some good connections. I think it would be interesting to meet up with a group of Russian navy men. I don't think Bryan is the new winston as uday suggested. His last 2 posts show that bryan obviously was able to experience far more appreciation of Russia and the culture. Probably even more than uday whose posts seem to focus on vodka, sex and negativity. Who cares if bryan is gay? its not like he was flaunting his sexual experiences like some others seem to do on this forum. |

| There is one important difference between Bryan and Winston. Bryan is meeting people on their terms with an open mind and seems to be enjoying a new and fascinating culture. From reading Winston's posts it seem that it is always "all about me", if you get my drift. I am trying to get a sense of Russian people and culture to increase my enjoyment of Russia when I finally get to go there. I made the mistake of browsing Winston's photo albums of his conquests, uh, I mean trips in Russia. What a waste of time. Are there other photographic resources for info about Russian people and culture? Thanks Dennis F in Texas |

| most of the pictures were of the type you could have taken while seated in a restaurant. He repeatedly said he "flirted" with this or that girl. I am not convinced. I'm afraid your salacious longings will not be satisfied here. The albums are on an AOL link. I think I found it in one of his earlier posts. The pictures served my purpose as I am trying to get some concept of what people wear in Russia. I think blue jeans and western boots and hat won't blend in very well, huh. |

Dennis,
In our experience re visiting the orphanage, city clerks and the court, we found it most appropriate to dress conservatively. I suggest you wear a suit to court anyway and your wife wear a skirt or dress. Blue jeans are ok. If you are going there this winter you will want to bring warm clothing, boots, hat, scarf, gloves etc. When we were at the orphanage and we went there every day, we wore comfortable warm clothing such as pants, shirt and sweater. I don;'t recommend wearing sweat pants and sweatshirts. They look sloppy. Leather coats are very popular in Russia and are great for keeping out the wind. |

| Bryan went negative to positive and negative and positive. He made me laugh with his comments and actions like 95kg of luggage and sprinting the highway instead of going through the tunnel. He seemed very upset sometimes and that his reaction was more to shock people with his "Juicy coiture". I am glad that he is doing well and feeling positive. |

DennisF,
I'm from Texas, and know for a fact that your bluejeans, and western boots will be just fine. Now the Stetson will get a few stares, but I have given six of them away as gifts in St.Pete. Believe me, the friends I gave them to are still wearing them. When it comes to those boots, you may wish later that you had something a little more comfortable to walk in, because you will be doing a lot of walking. As Cyndy suggest, if you go there in the winter you have to remember the weather there ain't nothing like here. A down coat I've found is best, with gloves, and a good warm hat with fold down ear protector's. When do you plan on visiting? |

oh just bloody go away you dirty old man if you don't have anything constructive to share. you're just a negative person. this is an open forum where anyone can talk. if you don't like what other people are talking then just ignore the thread and don't even bother posting. |

Can I second that?
I've read Bryanboy's posts and he is no way at all like Winston, so why insult him?
Somebody has Winston on the brain since he keeps bringing him up here, and in other posts.
I agree too much negativity. Before posting, why not think of something postitive to say or take some time to be silent.
If Bryanboy is gay, who cares? It's his life let him enjoy. I didn't see anything sexual in his posts and I want to hear about Russia from a different point of view.
