My wife is recovering from a brush with cancer and is taking some post chemotherapy drugs and I'm a Type 2 Diabetic. We will have a four month supply of our prescription drugs with us when we enter Russia, plus a letter in English from our Doctor stating the reason for the drugs.

We are driving from Murmansk to Vladivostok and taking about 3 months.

Do we need to declare them to Russian customs?
Should we get the letters translated to alleviate any problems?

Rogerm,
If you have a personal "kit", it would be better to have a letter (translated) stating that you're a diabetic and your wife is taking (maybe?) what could be considered class A drugs in Russia. Maybe get the Russian Consulate (if they'd bother?) to assist you. Always looks better on a legal letterhead. Best not to assume all and sundry are familiar with English.

Most, if not all, chemists in Russia are familiar with Latin Script, and you'd be surprised at what you can get over the counter without a prescription.
