which is more important to the russian people? i.e. yeltsin years or now? but when answering, please discount the two things that are exogenous to putin's term - good economy due to high oil price, and terrorism which justifies some amount of curbs on freedom.

the point is, are the restrictions on freedom of speech too much? and can putin's years be actually called stable?

What would you prefer, if you have a one-way time travel machine: to live in 1929 in USA, without any terrorism, or to live now is USA?

Of course Putin is better. Freedom... What do you call freedom? Fake elections, when some corrupted mayors and governors who stay for 3 terms since 1996 despite of people will?

Freedom of speech? I can't afford it. You must be very famous or rich to publish your articles in press.
