Oh boy have u ever opened a can of worms here,,,,,,,,,, (is worm-can opener on the list?)
Just to drop "light bulb" into wiki reveals the start of enough argumentative material for what could be the longest WTR thread ever - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Light_bulb
Canada can be proud enough of Bryan Adams, I would stop there if I were u! |

The original light bulb was invented by two Canadians, and they sold the patent to Edison for 5,000 dollars. He then marketed it.
I don't care much for Bryan Adams' music, although I am proud he's a Canadian. My favourite Canadian musician is actually Leonard Cohen.
Amazing songwriter.
As far as the can of worms goes, its fine with me. I'd rather talk about these things than endure some people's juvenile posts. The invention I'm most proud of is Banting and Best's insulin. They sold the patent for one dollar, so it could be mass produced. Very noble in my opinion.
Here is more info on them. http://www.cbc.ca/inventions/
Feel free to comment on anything you want. |

| I never went to Montreal, but I loved Quebec City. You feel like you're in Europe when you're in Old Town! |

With yourbcbud, it's always something Canadian that is so proud of. There was a tremendous number of inventions that started in the US, obviously. But that's not the point. It does not matter really.
If you take many of these inventions, some of them came from other countries, or other counties' scientists contributed to the development of them. For example, take a look at the history of Insulin:

Light bulb:

Thomas Edison alone had more inventions than all of Canada, I think (except for the wonderbra, perhaps). |

| Why are we trying to justify Canada? Who cares just enjoy where you live. Things are invented al over the world. I mean PIZZA came from New York and not Italy...but does it really matter. The United States invented Brittney Spears and certainly I don't care! |

The bigger point is that Canada is not known for inventions. Most of the greatest inventions in the old times came from Europe. And most of the modern inventions came from the US, as did most of the Nobel prize winners.
Canada should be proud of its natural resources and hockey - especially hockey |

Insulin was invented by Banting and Best in Toronto, Period. Two canadians invented the light bulb. We also invented the zipper. Now all we have to do is invent a way to affix it to your mouth so that it can be zipped shut. The patents say who invented what. Talk crap all you want Spicey. These are all legitimate Canadian discoveries. Again, two words, shut up. Your brain is leaking all it's grey matter on your keyboard. |

I'm not trying to justify anything, or anyone. As I stated in the first post, I saw a program on CBC, and I thought I might share it with everyone. It's Spicey who has to run in and saying America is better. I did nothing of the sort. Canada is Canada. I like it so why shouldn't I say good things about it?
I'm surprised Spicey didn't run in and tell everyone to stay away from Quebec because of the "secret french police".
BTW Quebec is incredible to visit, especially in the winter. The have a hotel made completely out of ice. There is a huge winter carnival there as well. And Krasatulya is right. It's more like a european city than just about anywhere in North America. I guarantee you'd have a good time.
Here's a link for the Ice Hotel. The only other one I believe is in Sweden.
