I enjoy watching hockey at times, especially during the Stanley Cup Finals and the Olympics, but honestly didn't have a clue as to what UFC even stood for until I just did a google search on it. 
Does anyone here follow women's football (soccer)? I have actually seen the Russian Women's National Team play twice and will probably have the opportunity to see them play against Norway during the qualifications for the 2009 European Championships.

| Do Russians actually enjoy eating "Kholodets" (meaty jelly) or do they just eat it becuase of tradition, or because it's rude to say no when your babushka puts it on the table in front of you..? |

First of all, don't assume that because you did not like a particular "kholodetz" it's can't be good. My grandmother made a very delicious kholodetz - or also called "studen"

I have had many variations of holodets, some better than others.
My mother puts deer or kangaroo meat in sometimes.
We have it at big family gatherings as part of a long meal.
It's great with horseradish or mustard and 100gr straight from the freezer. |

Deer meat is great...I never had kangaroo, though....  |

I've eaten kangaroo, and I didn't care for it. It had a strong flavour, but was kinda tough and stringy.
Although, come to think of it, that was a long time ago, and I'm told that ways of cooking it have improved a lot since then...maybe I'll try it again. |

Greetings,
I am currently a student residing in the United States. I have been trying very hard now for the last few years to find a way to Russia so that I might attend a year (or two) of school somewhere and learn more about Russian culture and language, I would also like very much to work and earn money as any other person living in Russia would. Currently I have some plans made for 2008 with an Exchange Student Program.
I have reviewed alot of what this website has to offer and I may sound a bit pessimistic, but I can't help but to have a fear that I may offend others for simply being an American. I understand that there will naturally be a degree of segregation anywhere anyone might go in the world. But I am still unclear as to if it will be as large of an isse as some (In the questionaire section of waytorussia.com) make it out to be.
Does anyone have any advise? I would very much like to become as familiar with these grounds as possible before I actually embark on my trip!
