| A person didn't recognize them as being Russian? There are so many different people in America and I had never seen a Russian before (only on t.v.) and I thought he was an American (with a slightly bigger nose haha) Would most Russian be mad about that? |

| Are Russian offended if someone doesn't recognize them as being Russian...like if they came to the States....I thought it was clearly stated. |

| I think the person asking this questions needs some kind of medical help. Any doctors out there? |

This wasn't clearly stated...so we'll just have to wait and see what Russians have to say about this |

What made you think he was an American? Was it because you saw him in America? In which case, so what?
What does an American look like for that matter? Any remarkable physical characteristics, other than usually being overweight? |

This by far is one of the strangest questions ever posted...
I really don't think a Russian can be "spotted" by their appearance. Heck, I don’t think you can really judge anyone’s nationality by their appearance…
Usually, you can tell what nationality someone is by his or her accent. Having met people from other east Europe countries (Poland, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia) I have found that Russians have a distinct accent all to their own…
I hope this makes a bit of sense...? |

I understand your question because I've come to US from Europe and I was always a bit startled when people called me a different nationality than I actually am. But I don't think a Russian would get offended, if not recognized as such at first look(though many can hardly be taken for sth else, they look so typica;like Putin)-I know many Russians who don't even want to speak Russian in the street just to blend in. And most Russians have a high self-esteem and don't care what people think of them. They know who they are and where they come from, f. everyone else. |

Wow! You 're good.
Russians are distinguishable by their face features and somewhat reserved manners, unless thy are drunk. Of course it's easier to recognize a Russian who's just come to US than one who'ss lived abroad for years... |

| What is it, do you think, that makes a Russian look different from someone from another culture (besides clothing styles, etc)? Is there something that specifically stands out? |

Real russians don't smile without a good reason. That has been discussed here quite a bit, so don't want to repeat the whole thing. |

| In my opinion there are certain gestures typical for Russians. Somehow I see that people coming from different cultures smile differently. And also other things, usually Russians respond very quickly incomparison to Estonians. And even if they wouldn't have the worlds most obvious Russian accent in English, or in some other foreign language for that matter, there is the basic understanding of this world, its people and culture so special to Russians. |
