You American women expect to be dined and whined and then jump to bed right away. Russian men are romantic;they want to know you better, to become your friend, to court you for awhile and take things to a higher level , not the so boring hi/dinner/sex/bye US pattern. Russian men love romance, a relationship not just animal sex. They are more refined(unless they are drunk ) than US men who'll use you and dump you in no time, which you seem to enjoy, no?
I recommend you watch the Siberian Barber, if you still have a question.
That's a movie about cheap US woman meeting a great Russian guy.

You do not deserve a Russian man. Go with an American.

Ouch! Well having dated Russian women and hearing what they have to say I beg to differ and really you shouldn't generalize American men and Russian men...There are good men in both societies. As far as romantic...some are and some aren't. Same applies to women...not all American women are easy...just as not all Russian women are easy. |

This is the most ridiculous/incorrect statement you posted here so far... Most russian women complain about the fact that they get very little romance or understanding from men in Russia. And if you read any forum dedicated to Russian women seeking foreign and American husbands, one of the main reason stated there is that Americans are much more romantic and gentle than Russian men. I don't know where you get all this information. You have some limited and biased understanding about Russia and the US. You really should go to Russia and discuss your perceptions about Russan men and how "romantic" they are. I bet 95% of women you talked to would be truly surpirsed to hear this assessment. You really need to research this subject a bit better before posting this. |

| anoki, have you ever dated Russian man? I am sure that there are plenty of romantic Russian men, but then mostly Russian men seem to be more macho than average Italian. If that's what you want them go for it. Russian men can turn into very evil and, if girl isn't doing everything that they expect. Unfortunately... |

Didn't you plan on marrying a Russian man just a short time ago? You planned to move to Russia, work there full time and find a husband there. So did you make that decision without having any information about that country? |

Yes, but I think it is probably better if I stay here...I am going to Russia to vacation....I got my information through some people in this forum and it is in my best interest to stay in the US... |

surfguy - let's say there's a woman from a random southern state that told you that she wants to move to Russia very soon, find a permanent job there and seriously wants to find a man there and marry him - wouldn't you assume that the women had a very good knowledge about Russia? Why would anyone make that kind of life-altering plan without doing any kind of research and having any decent knowledge about the country? Just sounds very odd to me.
In other words, she needed to find waytorussia.net forum so that she can turn around 180 degrees and change her plans once again. Very strange... |

you are absolutely right...only one reason that I know of that makes us do complete 180 degree turns...she must have met someone here in the US. From my conversations with her I do know she is very interested in Russia. Last year I was ready to go to Russia for someone...until I got a huge dose of reality. I still would go though...but only under the right conditions. I think you and I both told Jojo to visit first and then decide...get educated first. So I think your info to her really helped her to change her desires of Russia. There are a lot of good Russian men out there and the women are beautiful for sure...in fact too much competition there. And I think for an American woman to go there expecting to find romance...well she would be in for a rude awakening and a hard dose of reality. Just my 2 cents and Jojo fill us in on your change in attitude |

There are a few reasons that is keeping me from moving there..one is I am still learning about Russia and the language...I am still going but not to live even though I know I could live there but, I am not a complete fool to put myself in a stickey situation...if I wanted to get a Russian man....I could get a Russian man...like I said there would be one less Russian man available in Russia... ..I have enough confidence in myself to get what I want..but, I know when to take advice for the good....besides, I do have an interest.... |

I knew you met someone...so see you don't need to travel to Russia to meet a man, and besides is this guy russian? Anyways I hope he is romantic, good looking, fun, etc. Well good luck to you and hope it works out...plus who knows perhaps you two can go to Russia together |

There are million reasons that keep you from going there - that's understood. There's no question that you can charm some Russian men - that's also not in dispute. You general desire to go to Russia to work and meet a Russian man when you clearly knew virtually nothing about the country and it's culture and any other details (visas, work, career prospects, language) leaving you "close-nit southern family" behind seemed quite odd and illogical. |
