I've got a 1 year, multi-entry business visa. I'd like to buy a one-way plane ticket to Moscow, since 1) it's a bit cheaper in the near term, and 2) I'm not sure when my affairs will be completed.

I don't recall ever having been asked to show proof of my intention to depart Russia at the border controls at SVO, but maybe I've been lucky so far.

Does anybody know if it's mandatory to have a round-trip ticket to enter Russia?

Thanks!

I've not been in Russia since 2002, but I was never asked to present a return ticket to prove I could exit.
What country are you from (not that it would make a difference, I just don't know that much about it all)?
I'm sure there will be much better answer to your inquiry than mine.
Lots o' folk here have such a wealth of information.
I envy you....I wish I had time to travel there at this moment.
Have fun!

Kesha it does make a difference what country you are from. Last year I went via Vietnam and we picked up a lot of Vietnamese passengers in Hanoi. Every one of those had to show a return ticket and went through a very thorough screening. When it was my turn I was through in about 30 seconds and the official was not interested in a ticket out.

Hi. Thanks for the replies. I'm a US citizen, and would be traveling to Moscow from New York.

Ok. I am a EU citizen I've had multientry, one entry and 3 entry tourism, studying and командировка visa's to Russia and nobody has ever asked me about my return ticket back to my home country. Sometimes I've had return ticket, sometimes not. As long as your business respects Russian laws you'll probably have not a single problem. Though, I have always travelled to Russia by bus or by train, but I don't really think that means of transport make such a difference. You're wealthy, western business man and it is 100% sure that border controls won't pay any attention to your return ticket, whether you have it not.
