Topic split from adopting
I think some peopleshould lighten up. Even though I never participate in the trash-talking or I guess in webspeak, 'flaming', some have included some real zingers. Atomcat and Uday can demonstrate a sense of humor sometimes. I think it's inevitable in any forum for instances to develop into flame-fests (i.e. a non-verbal tug of war of words). People shouldn't get insulted or let it bother them.
I wanted to ask if anyone knows of any Russian-translation websites (FOR FREE). I might have found one but I saved it in my favourites list and have to confirm if it is infact one of them. It might be a Russian language site with a link to a translation site. I have visited a few sites here and there in the Russian language (cyrillic writing) and I wanted to know what was being said. |

Mogsfan,
In regards to you question about FREE translation. I have found on that I like it is www.freetranslation.com. Although, you would have to realize that it is a COMPUTER translation, so it might would be a little stiff or formal. But it is easy and they offer alot of options. Like human translation and e-mailing the translation. It's really cool.

Thanks, mountaingirl and Alice but I didn't find any of those to be very useful. One didn't seem to work (it returned the text back - in Cyrillic) and the other one only gave me some words back in English. I want to translate at least a paragraph. I guess I will have no luck. I know most of the programs are only for words so finding one for that is not a problem.
Hey, any of you who subscribe to those agencies want to 'buy' me some hot babe so I can get translations? hehe |

Such thing can happen if you forget to put correct language direction, i mean for example if you forgot to change it to "Russian->English" and it was "French->english", then it wont translate anything from russian, because the system willl be looking for french.
For translating of an entire webpage try this http://webtranslation.paralink.com/urlmode.asp
Dont forget to set language correctly. |

I use TranslationBooth.com offering free translation from their home page or Quick Translations for the cheapest human translations on the internet (around $0.03 per word with no minimum price or number of words).
I find that in matters of the heart machine translation is never a reasonable alternative. I looked at WorldLingo but they have a minimum price of $50??? That is a lot for a short letter. Using TranslationBooth a letter can cost me less then $10 and even less for short emails. |

| Why don't you post the text you want to translate, I bet a lot of people here will be able to help you (unless you want to translate a lot of stuff). What is the purpose of your translation efforts - are you translating documents, sending a letter, what is it? Knowing this information would help those trying to help you. |

| well, there isn't really any text to translate. i was in ukraine a few years ago and always remembered this word i thought was chyortnik, but i can't remember how my friends there translated it. and i can't find it anywhere on the internet. russian and ukrainian was so intermingled there, so i couldn't even say for sure whether it's one or the other. |
