U.S.	Posted: Fri Jul 11, 2003 11:45 am    Post subject: haha there are antique shows but expect to pay a fine price. there is nothing in st peter or moscow that people in america or anyother big country dont have already. just get some cigarettes and vodka. mainly vodka. it makes for special occasions with friends back home.

Sort of like second hand stores. Here are five metro's I know that has these sort of places(of course my spelling may not be correc)t: Metro Prospect Prosvesheniya Metro Zvezdnaya Metro Grazhdanskiy Prospect Metro Pioneerskaya Metro Ladozhsskaya

Guest	Posted: Wed Jul 16, 2003 3:36 pm    Post subject: Bender- Besides the markets located near the metro's I mentioned there are also some older Russian people selling some of their family heirlooms. Many of these older folks just spread a blanket on the ground to display their things, that is if the mafia guy's don't run them off. Some of the stuff is just junk, but I have seen some very valuble, and beautiful things too. A warning, be careful when you buy any art, or antiques there. There is a very expensive duty on them when you try taking them out of the country. Also, the officials may confiscate it if it is considered to be collectable art treasure. Just thought you might like to know. Randy

They have informed me that there are only maybe two of these sort of shops in StPete now, but during Soviet times there were many of them. The thrift shops, or second hand shops go by the name Комиссионный Магазин. The best English spelling of this I can do is Kommisionne Magazine. My family there doesn't know where these shops are located though. Maybe someone else on these message boards will know. Randy
