All: Does anyone know how a visit to a Russian health care facility could be arranged? I am an Anesthetist and will be traveling to Russia to complete the adoption of a 13 yr. old girl (soon I hope). I was wondering if it would be possible to visit a Russian hospital while there. Are such visits allowed? Some exchange with my anesthesia colleages would be welcome. DennisF

I can share from my experience. Once I had an american dentist who came to Russia to work at a christian camp. He really wanted to get aglimpse of what it's like to go to Russian dentist. I had a friend of mine and they spend a couple of fruitful hours together. I think you will be in contact with many people while going throuth adoption procedure in Russia. For sure some of them have a familiar doctor. Make an apointment in this personal way. It is not a good idea to get an official permission etc. Use personal contacts. Many things in Russia work this way. Good luck!

Thank you (spasiba) for the suggestion. My mind is not used to thinking in such ways but, when I read it, it makes perfect sense. I was hoping to visit with a Russian anesthetist but we are bound to hospitals by the nature of our practice. It may not be possible unless I meet a surgeon. We will see. nonetheless, I am very much looking forward to being in Russia. DennisF
