Let's face it, the USA is almost a continent - think Europe. And, there are far many more things to see and do in the USA than for example in Liechtenstein.
However, of course "average" Europeans travel to more countries than Americans (and Australians, Canadians for that matter). Even an almost broke European can travel to 20+ countries on their bicycle using 10 kg of rice as fuel. What's so special about Swiss travelling to 20+ different European countries which are close enough to throw a stone into?
I'd argue this "generalisation" though: Relatively, more Americans, Canadians, Australians, and New Zealanders "generally" travel "further" than their affluent European counterparts. They have to because of their isolation. |
Yes but in States you can manage with one solid language, in Europe you can't. Remember, we have three different alphabetical systems here, and also more if you want to take Armenia and Georgia to be part of Europe. Also not all European languages are that similar to each other, Albanian, Hungarian and Basque for example. |

Gee, Paul quotes statistics and provides links. Fire_G say the statistic must be wrong because the passport agency was crowded when SHE applied for a passport (been anywhere yet?). BCbud says that the statistic is wrong because, well, he doesn't think it is right. SufferingDude doesn't believe it because it directly contradicts his assertion that Americans are well traveled. Hmmm. What is one to think? Believe the facts or believe the opinions? Hmmm. |

The thing is...the Yale Global article is opinion based, and says that Americans holding passports is just above 20% and on the decline as Americans are tuning out the rest of the world...and the 2nd article states that the number of applicants for passports has gone up 44% in the past couple of months. It also states that 77 million Americans possess passports and that this number is set to rise substantially. 77 million...hey that's represents more than 20% which is an even greater number than the person who said that 97% of Americans didn't possess passports or travel. So sorry to those who are miss informed and who wanted to give thier views on articles that they didn't read...but BC, Myself, and Fire G, and Darth Vader-we are in the right on this one. My friend is about to get her US citizenship and she is very well traved and so I guess we will be adding one more American to the equation...proving that Americans are in fact so very well traveled. |

So I guess once all the European countries become one nation-The EUropean Union...then none of you will be so well traveled...all you did was visit a different state so to speak |

if you think that's what is going to happen, then you don't know Europe well enough. Only thing that European Union has created is people being more and more prouder of their own local surroundings, there's huge boom for local food, local dresses, local dialects, local you just name it! One nation Europe is not going to happen in next three thousand years, if not even then. Anti-Union opinions are strong. |

You know what is still great about America? The left, the fags and the morons will not prevail here.
Same is true for Russia. Did you see how the fags were punched in the face during the parade? Oh, yeah! That's the russian orthodox spirit!! That's not the UK or Canada to you, fags. Russians still have decency and love their God. |

You don't like Muslims, you have said rude things about them, and as a point of fact, 600,000 dead Iraqis weren't doing a lot to you, and yet you support that war. Are " fags" just an evil that you can tolerate? There's a word that comes to mind for your views. I think Fire G has used it a few times lately. |

Are we unusually grumpy today? Did your "engineer" boyfriend not give you a ride on his train at the amusement park today? |
