hi we are travelling through russia in june/july, but we are moving quite quickly enroute to mongolia and the nadaam. We will be in st petersburg 2 days, moscow 2 full days, then on the train to Irkutsk for 3 then overnight in Irkutsk before heading on to ulan bator.
Can we get our visa registrations done in such short time scales in each place, I had read 3 working days to get your visa registered, or is keeping all our train tickets enough. help!

many thanks

gavin

right so is it you only need to register if you are in a city for more 72 hours?

will this still cause problems if i dont register in each place?

thanks

You shouldn't have to register at all, since you will not be in one location for 72 hours or longer. I would recommend keeping all of your train tickets, just in case someone tries to give you any grief, you will have something to show them.

I would stay in a hotel for one night within three days of entering Russia, then technically you should not have a problem for the rest of the trip. You only need to register if you stay somewhere three days or more. BUT, as I understand, if you stay in Russia (as a whole) for more than 3 days, you must register.
