What does it cost? i'm mostly interested in american citizens but maybe somebody else's done it before. i'd be really grateful if you share your experience. this is really urgent as we need to decide this with my hub tomorrow evening at the latest! I do hope someone replies fast! Thanks in advance!

Firstly, do you have your own invitation or do you need to get it through travel agency? Cost of the visa will depend on your nationality. Visas in Helsinki (as in other towns of Finland) are done rather rapidly, in a week. We need express service though, same day or next business day. The site you provided doesn't say anything about the processing time. thanks anyway, though. at least we know the approximate price!

So you can just go to the Embassy straight with your invitation, it will be faster and cheaper for you that way than handling your papers via travel agency. Are you going to Helsinki or to some other town in Finland? There's also Russian consulate in Turku and an other one right at the border, in Lappeenranta.
