Cecile,
See the Vladivostok post by Nicola for some ferry information. This site has some updated information re Baikal and even homestay stuff. My girlfriend and I scoured various sites and most of the tour operators tend to start somewhere around US$50.00 per day. Unless you have your own car, doing Baikal on the cheap is somewhat impossible. You could manage "day trips" from Irkutsk.
Nicola hasn't returned from her travels yet, and she went over by herself, so she would be good to contact.
If you want to save money I suggest you shop around in Irkustk for trains that go to Moscow, or visit www.poezda.net and use the english version.

Hope this helps.

Here is a page on info for ferries to Russia from Korea:

http://www.vostexp.vl.ru/english/ticket/ship.htm

The cheapest would be $120 one-way. Not bad!

Once you get to Russia.. I have no idea the costs or anything.. but at least that ferry out of Korea is the most important step.
