Nope, there are no such people. Those are just traitors, who do things better for themselves only.
Any examples you can give to prove there was actualy someone who left to make things better for thos who stayed ? I think not. |

F.Y.I. I married after 5 years out of Russia.Some my husband's family left Ireland for North America in the 1820's. The Irish independance movement only really gained any momentum after the American Civil War when union war veterans started sending money and arms back home. By 1926 most of Ireland, 26 of 32 counties were free of British rule. Were my husband' s family traitors to Ireland? If they had not left Ireland would probably still be flying the Union Jack. Want more examples of how ex-pats have served their countries far better from outside than people who stay home and do nothing? |

Well he lived to just a few weeks short of his 100th birthday and never did go back. And never lost his love for his rodina either. |

| there are many good reasons to leave any country...and some are good and some are bad...I could easily leave America to live some where else and a couple of times I came very close to doing so...never meant I would give up my country or my homeland...just would mean I would adopt another. And this is how I view others who have chosen to do so...no matter where we are from and who we are. Life is an experience and we all should be able to chose how and where to live |

| I just stopped by the forum after a few months and was glad to see that this post got revived. I'm flying to Russia in two days and I'm planning to stay until next summer. It seems like Russians' idea of Russia is often related to its power status. My russian teacher last summer talked about Russia's decline, both politically and morally. She, like russki, thinks that democracy is not a good form of government, but she also thought communism was just as bad. She believes Russia should be governed by a Tsar, because they follow the the Orthodox church. She's a rare one for sure, but it's interesting to me the very different "Russias" people can look back to for identity, and yet it is all "Russia". I hope my language skills get good enough to follow the political debates leading up to next year's election. I wonder if the opposition to Putin will grow in strength enough to really challenge the election? |
