http://www.nytimes.com/2007/08/06/washington/06nsa.html?ei=5065&en=4e05f95a4b60ac78&ex=1187064000&adxnnl=1&partner=MYWAY&pagewanted=print&adxnnlx=1186412898-sGbhUXw3UnoWk4zgAgyD4g

I see a demand for giant telecommunication switches located outside the U.S.. Advertising by the companies owning the switches will be directed to people wanting to bypass the U.S. for their communications. Let's say you're in England and you call someone in Mexico City. The signal goes from England through an underwater cable to the U.S., then over an underground cable to Mexico City. If your signal crosses the U.S. border anywhere along its path, you're fair game. That's not exactly what the news article says, but that's what will eventually happen.

I have mixed feelings about this one because on one hand nobody wants Uncle Sam putting his long nose into their business, especially if they arent even in the USA. But I cant help but feel that this whole bypass thing would also help child predators get away with doing their nasty stuff online, and not get busted by the USA.

well it's a necessary defense for sure...and as long as you are doing legal things than you've no worries. Wire tapping happens in corporate America too...unless you created the phone companies or own the lines or invented the internet or own the hubs...then sorry we really don't have the control or the freedoms to do with as we please. The Gov can listen to me all they want...I've nothing to hide

Yeah sure you know you have nothing to hide, and know that your conversations are above board, according to you. But that does not stop someone from misconstruing what you have said to a friend over the phone. You could easily be marked as a person of interest, and thats what I do not approve of.

Well, we can all just vote for Ron Paul and get rid of most the Gov. controls on people. He'll put the people back in charge. Laughing

Besides, baby moniters, walky talkies and CB's all get signals from other places than USA. Why and how I dunno, but I've heard some weird stuff many times that wasn't in the states. So, I can only assume there is no control on signals anywhere.
I also have a laptop I swear has permanent internet conections and I pay nothing. I just bought it, and bata bing internet ever since. Go Figure. Shhhhhh don't tell anyone, please.

Another thing, I have a auto telescope that searches for things, and if I connect my transister radio's antena to the digital box and hit auto ... I hear all sorts of stuff. Amazing what a antena and a telescope can do. Or just a telescope in general. I think it's my favorite toy.

I thought some of those billionaires in Moscow might figure a way to make money from this situation.

http://news.cnet.com/Internet-traffic-begins-to-bypass-the-U.S./2100-1025_3-6246200.html

"Internet traffic begins to bypass the U.S."

"While the United States carried 70 percent of the world's Internet traffic a decade ago, he estimates that portion has fallen to about 25 percent."

Looks like somebody is making money from this situation.
