My Daughter and I just came back Form Novosibirsk. We had a great time. A friend arranged a tourist guide for us and she was wonderful. She charged us 20 dollars a day plus the cost of meals and tickets. I was very happy with the service. At the end of our Trip I tried to tip her 200 dollars and she would not accept it. I felt her time, average 12 hours a day, and her concern for my daughters and my saftey was great. She would pick us up and drop us of and would not allow us to pay her Taxi back and forth to her apartment. My Daughter and her hit it off great. to show thanks for her time and service I would like to invite her to the US to Visit us. How hard is it for a young Russian women to get a visa to visit the USA? I have heard many storys from some people we met on our trip. And the US embassy does not give a lot of information. She ia a student and works part time. Any help would be great.

Thanks
Greg

Greg...from my understanding...if she has return tickets and you are sponsoring her and funding her visit...it won't be as difficult

surfguy, Thanks for the responce, but what do you mean by: "as difficult".
We will pay her expences, But from what I understand she has to go to the embassy and prove that she wants to return to russia. I know she does not have much money. She lives with her family. So how does she prove at the interview she wants to return to Russia? Like I said the US embassy does not explain things clearly.

Thanks
Greg

It is likely that she won't get a visa. She needs to prove that she has a very good reason to return back to Russia. That is, she has very close family ties (i.e., family, small children, etc.) and/or stable job and income, at least by Russian standards. If she is relatively poor and has no good way to prove that will certainly return to Russia (say, she is a single and relatively poor female), she has very remote chance of getting a US visa.

MrSpice thanks
. Does any one know what other countries Russian citizens can visit with out a visa? I would really like to repay her for her kindness. She proved my beliefs wrong about Russians. And I would like for her and my daughter to go someplace she has not been. As a way of saying thank you. Thanks for your help

Yes. There are lots of countries Russians can easily visit. For example, Turkey, India, Cyprus. Also, it's pretty easy for Russians to get a visa to visit many European countries, including some rich countries like Finland. Prague is one of the favorite tourist spots for Russians. When I visited Prague, I saw many Russian tourists. The same goes for Italy. In general, it's quite possible for most Russians to get a visa to visit any European country.

One other great destination where Russians don't need a visa - yet it's very popular among American tourists - Dominican Republic:

Oh and a lot of Russians go to Thailand, Egypt, and Croatia. And actually I see russian tourists by the bus loads visiting San Francisco. She shouldn't have any problems visiting as long as you sponsor her...won't be a problem

I did enjoy my visit, I want to go there in the winter. The people were great. I just need to get use to public transit there. The pushing and shoving was a problem for me.

Thanks again

No, you don't need a visa. Your ticket provider must advice you on all the details though.
