In one of the other topics someone mentioned the book "Generation П".
Generation П
Виктор Пелевин
I found a place to download it for free. It is fiction [I think the person who posted didn't know that]. It can be found at:
http://www.fictionbook.ru/en/author/pelevin_viktor/generation_p/
It is only in Russian and as an rtf file after being unzipped, it is 118 pages. On the download page is a Che Guervera picture.

| "Che" was a good buddy of Fidel Castro, correct? So, here are our heroes: Bush, Castro, Stalin, Lenin, Clinton, Reagan et al. This disgusts me. I really am considering not participating in this forum anymore. I can't take the stupidity, B.S. and lies. It is depressing and I'm already not feeling that well. If anyone wants to argue with me, don't bother! |

Huh? Where did all that come from?
Mogsfan, you can't really define people on a board like this by what they're against. If I'm interpreting you right...
You can be against both Communism and Reaganism. Simple opposing ideologies break down when you're talking about international relations and stuff.
I don't get the impression that most people on this board support those American political figures who take credit for bringing down communism!

There remark you stated is corrected that "was" a good buddy. If you remeber I stated that I like Che because he sacrifice his life for what he believed in. He went to free the people from tyranny and poverty. Although I do not agree with his actions/methodology, I still like him as figure of person as noble person. It is true that he/Fidel were friends. You probably had many friends that you no longer care for. Che left Cuba bitterly opposing Fidel and wanted to "free" other countries. Fidel wanted closer ties with the USSR and China. Che wanted to be free from other superpowers and have a socialist state, not communist. Fidel also saw that Che was a political threat and it was rumour that Fidel help the CIA to track him down. Just because you do not agree with a man's ideology, does not make someone bad person.
You comment would be the same as not liking Trotsky, because he was friends of Stalin. Or not liking Nietzsche, because HItler quoted his work or that he was friends with Richard Wagner(known Aryan and Great composer) |

Very much agreed. It is important to remember to oppose someone's policies, but not the person themselves! For example, I'll bet Bush would make a fine neighbor. I don't think he would try to hurt me in a shopping line. But his policies hurt tremendous amounts of people - and that I oppose!

Che supported guerilla war, though? I haven't read enough on him but so far, it seemed that he shared values with Castro. Anyway, there aren't any politicians who I like and I don't feel forced to choose any. I guess, on the top of my head, I'd choose Gandhi. Generally speaking, politicians are not to be trusted and that goes for all stripes and ideologies or persuasions. I think one must always hold in mind, their ulterior motives. It's just the way it is.
I don't know what system is best for a society but I know that no country is using one. I suppose there are aspects of each that are good and possibly, a type of odd hybrid of libertarianism and socialism would be ideal but perhaps, that is impossible? It's hard to know because there seems to be questions or flaws within each system. What I mean, it's difficult to decide how to respond to an issue and know which action to take or support.
All I know is that people are foolish when they support or value certain politicians because there's someone who is worse. Where is there a law that states you must support politicians X, Y and Z because the other ones are supposedly worse? All the ones you and the rest support have proven track records and they're all negative so I don't understand why people like, support and/or admire them.
Bush, a good neighbour? Don't make me laugh. Don't you and your peers not understand that if a person is generally bad and proves beyond a reasonable doubt of bad tendencies and poor values, that probably, they're a bad person in general as well? If your ethics are consistently bad, you might as well chalk up that person as bad, period. Well, you keep Bush in your backyard, please. The problem is what he does, his puppets and the puppet masters who control his strings, CAN and will influence not just the U.S. but many other nations as well. So, I say to Americans, don't dare say I can't have an opinion or criticize. That's it. |

Here is the history of Che.
Remember I do not agree with his ideals, but I thought he was a great man. Like Socrates, he stood up against the establishment for what he thought was right and died for his beliefs. |
