And actually I remember when I visited Tajikistan and Khazakstan, and Kyrgistan...those places aren't exactly friendly towards outsiders either...especially when it comes to lower classes competing for jobs. Nobody wants anyone in thier country if they have nothing to offer and are going to be a burden on the society. A wealthy tourist certainly is not going to have the same problems as a migrant worker trying to make an existence off of a new found society. Ills in Russia today are the same ills that have affected any society throughout history. In fact here we are talking about Russia...a developing country and really it is no diffeent a situation in Iraq or in Palestine

Think that little kid would be the most popular for fighting back at the kids who used his sandbox without permission? Or would treat other kids nice when they do ask permission? Naturally, the other kids avoided him, and he wonders why. He doesn't seem to forgive easily. That kid will have lots of mixed feelings about playing with other kids, but it's still no excuse, according to his mother especially, and he will have to grow up and learn to share and play nice. The world is not fair, sandbox rules try to keep it fair, they fail sometime, but there is no help to anyone, to that kid or to other kids, if bitterness is harbored by either side. But eventually, most kids grow up.

My point is not to eliminate nationalism at the expense of multiculturalism...we as societies need to preserve each and every cultural to make the world multicultural...France is french...Brittain is English...Russia is russian. Yes it is ok and welcomed to be Black muslim in London...makes the place more interesting and colorful and nicer...but England never ever started out as a muslim country or a black country...or chinese or mexican etc etc. and is it right to change the identity? Yes people fear change...but do things have to change?
