No, because that would be useless, and immature. |

I am looking for new bands, any suggestions?????
I am going back over in July. |
Punk bands... And nobody has mentioned Jegor Letov and Grazhdanskaya oborona!!? Definitely not westernized or cheesy! As a matter of fact, I happen to have vsyo diyot po planu as ring tone...
If some modern, then perhaps Poslednye tanki v Parizhe and cd 2084. Their performance surely isn't like any of those junk-emo-"punk"-"rebel"-shit.
Err... Why didin't I found this thread earlier? Let's talk about Russian punk rock
Anyone else feels like trashing emo? |
So, are you saying you could like a old band, maybe the "Sex Pistols"? Huh? |
What comes to old punk, I am not that into Sex Pistols as I once was, I'd probably go for Buzzcocks. All though I have to say that I haven't been listening to "western" punk for years. Besides, JEgor Letov is still performing. Have to say that I wouldn't see significant correspondence between Jegor Letov and Sex Pistols/ Buzzcocks.
Yanda Djagileva isn't that western-like either, in her music there's clear influence of Russian folk music, such as Zhanna Bichevskaya. Unfortunately, Yanka Dyagileva isn't among us anymore...
What comes to old music in general, I think my love to old music is quite well proven in the previous threads... I listen to plenty of music, mostly depending on what I am doing and my own mood. To be honest, I really don't care about what's on the MTV, especially when Alternative nation turned into emo-junk-hole |

I never watch MTV because I cannot stand Rap music and that is all they play or they have too many dumb shows now like the "The Real World" crap. I hardly watch TV anymore, but I love the Sex Pistols. Oddly most of those punk rockers wherever they are from never really live that long. They usually die from drug overdoses. I am the same way it does depend on my mood in what I listen too. I listen to opera too. I love a good voice. Alternative did change. Too much as you say..emo-junk-hole!

And what comes to punk rock, also Estonia has its gift to the world: J.M.K.E Go and look for their album called "Külmale maale", I am sure you'll like it
It must be some artist thing to die young, starting from Lermantov and Rimbaud you can go through Janis Joplin and Sid Vicious and end up in Curt Cobain..
Jo Jo you should really search for most of the Russian rock, metal and punk rock bands mentioned here, I am sure you'll find plenty of stuff. And check the link of tamizdat in an earlier post on page 1, I hope the site is still working, it's cool
In advance I apologize to all conservative culture people who can not accept my understanding of cultural history. |

| what is your understanding of cultural history...are you referring to Punk Rock music as some main cultural impact and definition for anysociety? Actually if you want to study a music that is very cultural...Gypsy Music is far more defining! |

| Yes Gypsy music reigns supreme in my opinion. Many a night while sitting under the stars, and sipping sangria, I listened to the fine tune of a gypsy Lute. |

I have found a Russian singer that I have fallen in love with and wanted to share her music with you all.
Her name is Yulia Savicheva (Born 14 February 1987) and she is from a small city called Zauralye. Yulia was born into a family of musicians and has always had an interest in music. She spent all of her free time as a child learning how to play instruments and hanging out with musicians. She first got her start in the music buisness as a backup vocalist for the singer Linda.
In 2003, she participated in the program Star Factory (Russian version of Pop Idol) but was eliminated in the Semi-Final rounds. On 15 May 2004, she represented Russia in the 49th Eurovision Song Contest in Istanbul, Turkey, and placed 11th out of 24 with the song "Believe Me".
After her appearances on Star Factory and in the ESC, her career took off. In 2005, she released her first CD, Vysoko (High), which was a best-seller. In 2006, she released CD. Magnit, which is her best selling album to date.
Here are some music videos for her songs:

Cool! There is another Yulia fan on WTR. Now if only there was someone else who shared my love of Turkish rock music...my love for metal and rock and roll knows no language barriers.
My second favorite Russian singer is Valeriya. Have you heard of her, surfguy? |

Yeah this is a great thread. Russia has some really tallented musicians these days.
So who else do you like?
I was and always will be a t.A.T.u. fan and...I hate to admit it, and I know some people on here might make fun of me, but I am a Dima Bilan fan. |
