Hello:
Does anyone have experience with the ticket re-seller operaandballet.com (also uses sites balletandopera.com, stopinmoscow.com, and many others)? They claim to have tickets for almost any performance in Moscow and St. Petersburg, but I am worried that it's a scam. I am only considering them because the venue for my event does not book tickets online.

Thanks for your help.

What tickets are you wanting to buy?

Tickets can be bought for most everything at the box office of the venue. Very often you can buy tickets on the same day. Also Moscow (don't know about St. Pete) has oodles of ticket kiosks everywhere. Metro stations, on the streets.

Ticket rehandling companies usually add a surcharge to the face price of the ticket.

If I knew more specifically what tickets you were after I might be able to give better information.

I am interested in ordering tickets for the 20th Oct.
Blagovest performance at the Moscow International
Musical Center, however, the event is not listed at the
Musical Center´s website:
http://www.mmdm.ru/en/event-list/?year=2007&month=10
Now whether that's because the MMDM hasn't updated their website, or because BalletAndOpera.com is a scam, or some other reason, I can't say.

Overseas_Expat's advice is good, though. It probably wouldn't be too bad to buy them when I get to Moscow, but I was hoping to have them before I leave, even if that meant paying a small surcharge.

I'm not surprised that you can't find a far in advance listing for the show that you want. 30 days in advance is a lifetime here. Often tickets for concerts don't even go on sale till 10 or 14 days in advance of the performance.

There is more than one MMDM theatre hall. They're in the Swissotel mega complex. I don't know which hall your Blagovest is performing in. At any rate neither one of them are very big and in this case you are right, it would be nice to have the tickets in hand before the day of the performance.

Swissotel very upscale. Brand new. Bring a clean tie.

Wish I could help more.

P.S. If you're into the traditional symphony/theatre arts, in Moscow there are better venues. The Conservatory is my favorite. 19th century peeling plaster, glowering babushki ushers, brilliant orchestra performances. Tickets are usually cheap and easy to get. The MMDM is a spanking new foreign investment wonderland of crushed red-velvet bordello. No much to my taste. I prefer rundown 19th century Russian.
