Those Russian women need to come here to America and get some help.
They would get all the help they need until they got on their feet. What a terrible shame... |
They would need to have a legal status to get help here. |

Isn't it true that Russian men do not have to pay child support if they leave their wives for a prettier woman? I assume alcohol is a key factor in the childless marriages over there. Maybe Russian women are smart not to allow themselves to get caught up in that life. Things change over decades of being put second. It seems this takes precedence over everything else in Russia.
Ex pat, Russia had been talked about having the best resources in the world and is now considered to be the wealthiest country as well. I have not been to Russia but it shows that Russia clearly has more going for them than just food. |
Obviously, cheating has very little to do with the demographic situation. Where do you get those ideas, Jo Jo? Actually, in most European countries - even those where few people drink and where the quality of life is high - the birth rate is low. The reason why it's such a huge problem is Russia is that the death rate is high (because of poor public health, high alcoholism rate among men, poverty in the regions). So, on the net basis, Russia is losing population. Also, the younger population has become more mobile. People move into big cities to find opportunities and don't want to get married and have kids as before. Just like in the US, it has become common in Russia to live together without getting married. It used to be that most women in Russia would try to have a baby by 22-23. Nowadays, women get married later and have children later. This trend is again similar to what has happened in America over the past 15-20 years.
The population growth rate in the US is much higher not only because we have a higher birth rate, but also because of very high immigration rate - both legal and illegal. And those poor immigrant groups (Hispanics/Mexicans), have traditionally had a very high birth rate. That is why the Hispanic share of the population is increasing in the US. |

The younger Russians want to live the way they want. More freedoms like the US.
It is sad when immigrants are not welcomed in Russia as they are here in the US. I think that needs to change too. |

Jo Jo - it seems like you're ready to change the world. I guess most Russians are just as friendly towards immigrants as people in Eastern Kentucky. And since you live in an area that's 98% white, clearly, diversity is not very welcome there either |

Well we have lots of Russians who are living here and new Russians that have moved here. What does that tell you? |

Very few Russians that move to the US settle in Kentucky. I guess they like your "white-only" town |

There are several Russians here, Spicey. My state is mostly made up of Germans, British Isles. The rest were Russians and a small percentage of Urbans that settled in KY. Oh, forgot the Cherokee Indians. |

I don't see anything wrong with that.
I told you my daughter is in school now. So, yesterday I got a new schedule for the next week and it says, School council meeting, Lice check, ...International Languages. I was pretty excited thinking that International languages mean French for my child. Right! The choice is : Punjabi, Hindu and Urdu.
What a heck? |

Okay, since you bring up this about whites, are Russians that prejudice? I have to ask this because I am getting this impression that Russians are. What about the new Russians, aren't they a little more passive towards blacks? Since I come from, I hate to say it, a racist state, what would I be in Russia, if I were Russian. What group of Russians would I fall under and not skinhead. Old Russian society or new Russian society?
Just asking...and just curious... |

Well, maybe it's good that children are able to keep their parents' language by having International language day three times a week. Taxpayers money have to be spent and that is the way. |
