I am now in Riga , Latvia. Early this morning i got a 1000 rouble fine at border control. The border guard noticed that on my 3 month business visa ,the white paper had 3 registration stamps but there was a 2 month gap between the 2nd stamp and the last one . He then very casually looked through my wallet (with me still holding it of course ) and said " that'll do" (In Russian.)He photocopied the white paper and my passport. He also got me to sign my name on this Russian form ( I didn't know what it said)about 5 times in different places before he gave me my passport back, he then waved me off smiling. Will there be a problem in the future if i want to get a new business visa? For your information the route i took was the Eurolines bus Moscow - Riga and my visa was due to expire on the 15th of December

No, you won't have problems. He was just happy you paid him some money, so chill. Smile

According to the law they can only apply special measures to you through the court. Like, if they want to deport you or if they want not to let you in Russia for 5 years, they should do it through court. In your case you just paid the fine and signed the paper confirming it.

Maybe someone can shed some light on the situation for me.

Jay ,, I think that everyday must be covered on your visa registration . Mine had 3 stamps on it which covered the sheet of paper but they were only one night hotel registration stamps and any eagle eyed border guard would have noticed this. I was naive and maybe i should have given him some static instead of paying up
