Hello!

My father in law is Russian, and I would like to wish him happy birthday in his own language. Here is what I would like to say:

"Happy birthday! I wish you health and happiness. Take care of your health, because our son will need the guidance of his grandfather."

It doesn't need to be exactly word for word, but that is the point I would like to get across. If anyone would be willing to help, I'm asking for the translation to be spelled out phonetically (with the accented syllables capitalized if possible, just to help me get it right.). Would be a bonus if you could include the phrase in cyrillic as well, just for my own learning.

Thanks for your consideration!!

Hi, Kod, I'm not sure you will be able to read this, but if you think it's too much, we can work on something less complicated. It is very nice, by the way, that you want to wish Happy Birthday to your father-in-law in his native language. Wish you luck.

Wow! Thank you SO much. That's exactly what I was looking for, and your timing is great. I'm supposed to call in a couple of hours, so I'll have a bit of time to practice and hopefully get to a point where he will understand.

Thank you so much for your help, Daria. If there were any way I could return the favor, I would Smile

Happy to be helpful, Kog. If you need any help, let me know. My husband is an English speaker too, and every time he wants to say something to his in-laws, I have to do it for him. Razz So, I have some experience.
