See the USSR was a joke because while the average soviet citizens were warehoused in state owned apartments working in
state owned factories...for state set wages...and subjected to what ever the state was offering...it was a joke...one only has to
look to and listen to all those who defected. See the average citizen didn't get to drive in the mercedes of Stalin...didn't get to live
in the mansions of Stalin...no...the average citizen got to take state transportation and was limited to the confines of the state.
Lenin...Stalin...the whole lot were corrupt. There is no denying this. Sure things were rough with the transition of the 1990s but
let's see really what the russians are capable of...can they compete in a world economy? I don't think the Kremlin is really all
that worried about those who are suffering now...why because they have never been concerned about the people. Those who
have held power in the USSR have always been concerned only with thier greed.

Definitely not, what is the need for Putin to stretch him now, anyway his tenure is going to be over. What for boris yelstin fought with. Does u mean to say they are greedy, Gorby is greedy and a half witch. Putin has to be renowned as a man sent by god
to revitalize Russia. What Putin is going to gain by doing all these? He is the one who can protect Russia from the hands of devil. If
Truth exists in this world then Russia is going to be restored. Who wants to drive Mercedes when he/she doesn't have 3times Food a day?

Communism doesn't work...

Who said, it depends on the nature of the country and what for it’s tuned to? if you introduce capitalism to a country where communism is predominant or communism to a capitalism practiced country, then there will be a fatality. You can't introduce a change over night. Any change has to be brought down slowly and it has to be well applied and finally accepted. There is nothing wrong in practicing communism or capitalism.

Quote:

anyone who was involved in the communist government whether it was locally or had a position of power from the State abused
their power.

Here it’s the issue with an individual not with communism. For ex: if a Wal-Mart sales guy disrespected you it doesn't mean that Wal-Mart is bad, replace that guy and the issues are over.
If so, bush used his power to take revenge on Saddam. Now can i say capitalism failed?

Quote:

If you ever watched some Soviet propaganda movies it always showed people laughing and dancing around a haystack and singing while they all worked in the fields, however, in reality it was all bullshit.

If you ever watched some Hollywood/007 movies it always showed people laughing and dancing around a casino and fighting against terrorism, however, in reality it was all bluff. They will get awards from the govt, in turn they spread a false idea. Ex: Airforce 1 & octopussy(007).
I’m not against to communism or capitalism, both are good and they have different ways of approach. its quite natural that it appears to be wrong to the other. But both are good in selective aspects.

Quote:

who work for money they get from the US

It’s to gorby only, you are right.

(Putin) He will control Hundreds of billions of dollars, a secret service, and a nation...

of course, he will put Russia back to its roots and the sun has born again.

I'm not saying that Indians have loveless marriage, but you pointed out that Americans are raised by one parent and divorce etc...I was saying that at least we can pick our spouses unlike some parts of India where one has to wait until it's arranged. Burning brides are not just an internal issue, it's a government issue and a human rights issue. So, I was talking about your gov't as well. You may be on the subject of war/oil with the United States, but I'm on the subject of human rights in India it's all related to government. Then again BS, we are off the subject of this room...so lets end it.

I think you read lot of history books. Burning brides is called “sati” that happened in north INDIA that too decades before when INDIA was in hands of British. Now if a husband slapped his wife then the wife can very well approach a women police station and lodge a complaint against him. Now day’s local laws are very strict. As I told earlier women are generally well respected in INDIA. There are always exceptions. Like a husband may kill his wife in order to get married with his girlfriend, this I read in “mirror” news paper. Our Prime Minister INDIRA GANDHI is still remembered and sunita Williams & kalpana chawla already made a spacewalk aboard ISS. TN state ex chief minister is a woman.

Cool, have a good time, buddy. Don't eat too much.

Thanks YC and surfguy, this time I consumed less compared to last year, still my mom blames its high. Anyway next year I will take even less. I have tasted all sweets and have a 2Km jog everyday + 10litres of water. This time I enjoyed a lot with crackers. With the crackers, I put the spent ones in to a cylindrical container and finally ignite it. To my surprise, it went above my head in less than a second. This is a cheapest form of solid propulsion. I will work on it when I find time. I can use a basic fuse wire to ignite it.

did anyone have a chance to burn crackers.

"Like a husband "MAY" kill his wife in order to get married with his girlfriend?"

What is that? Is this for real?

I don't believe you about two decades ago that sati was more popular. I'm sorry to say that some remote areas it's still going on. Read some of the Amensty International websites etc...Honor killings, burnings, and wife abuse is very common, but not out in the public because of all these watch groups today are documenting incidents. Many people do not want their dirty laundry on television so they don't report incidents because it brings shame to the family and sometimes the women cannot remarry another man( India and the Middle East). Listen, we have spousal abuse here and other social problems, but for me to say that those things don't exist anymore is ridiculous. Confused

Well getting back to the subject of this thread...I'm sure Stalin would have wiped out 80-90% of India's population...transplanted russians to there...and socialized the country...LOL

I can trace mine all the way back to Adam...did you know that the word Adam in ancient hebrew means to turn red in the face? Also in the early testaments it was written that God created adam in his image (not man)

Genesis 1:26 (King James Version): And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

Yes, and the population of India would be small today. Stalin would have banned the Muslim extremists in Kashmir and would have banned bad Bollywood films..LOL..

Well I have been saying this all along...and know it to be true because so many of the insurgents in Iraq and afghanistan that we have captured and or killed are from chechnya...which this is why Russia and the USA are closely allied in the War on Terror. Now you are beginning to see why the Russian journalist in Baghdad were targeted. It pisses me off that Clinton sided with Chechnya and with the ethnic Albanians...we are so on the wrong side of both those wars. And it is all for politics! And Economics...we tend to focus on minute deatails of all these conflicts...when really we need to look at the big picture. Al Queda was just captured in Azerbaijan last week. Also...Al Queda is no longer able to function in Baghdad either. They have been pushed back to Iran where the shots are being called. Pakistan too plays a major role in all of this and my bet is that the USA and India in a joint effort will be taking control of some strategic places in that country. A lot is going on here for sure. Lets not forget Chechnya is Muslim and extreme. Thier propaganda is all over the net.
