Ok, I'm confused as to whether or not I can use the Russian visa given to me. I currently have a 12 month, multi-entry visa issued to me, but due to a LOT of problems with the organization, that issued me an invitation, I won't be doing any business with that group Mad . Since I planned on going to Russia (no matter what) I applied to attend Spb state and received my invitation from them for 90 days instead of 6 months like i requested...now here is where it gets tricky. Since I can't have two valid visas can I simply use the visa already in my passport? I won't be working with the organization that extended me an invitation and seeing that I need to be there for 5 months instead of 3 why should I trade the 12 month, multi-entry visa for a 90 day single-entry visa accompanied with complications? I wanted to take classes for 5-6 months and getting rid of the first visa will complicate my life ten-fold because I'll have to apply for another 90 day visa and between the two leave the country for god knows where. I don't want to break any laws or anything, but using the multi-entry visa just seems to make more sense. The real question is whether or not it is legal.

i don't know if ppl aren't replying because they don't know the answer or if they haven't seen my first message. i hate to sound needy but none of the russian consulates in the united states have been any type of help; either nobody picks up the phone or i get someone who tells me to call back when someone with better english is there. after calling them everday for the last 6 business days i'm getting a little nervous and wouldn't like to cancel my trip because i can't find the answer to my questions. so, if someone could help me solve my visa/invitation issues that would be really nice.

Typically, no one cares what type of visa that you have. It is more of a formality than anything else. If you already have a business visa, I would use it. You can have travel agencies make you what is essentially a fake business invitation without having any business dealings with anyone in Russia. The invitation is just needed for the purposes of issuing the visa. Once you enter Russia nobody will ask or care whether or not you are dealing with the organization that issued the original invitation.

I would just use the business invitation since it has already been issued. I don't think anyone will question a single thing.
