The tickets are CITY-STAR train tickets. Same tickets are also posible out of Russia, so who lives in Russian Far East can travel to Europe via Moscow far cheaper than to Moscow only. These train tickets are called "Экономная Цена" in Russian, sometimes "Гипарпрайс". The best is, the base price is for the first passenger, the second, third, fourth, fifth passenger pay half of it (=50 Euro), children only 25 Euro. The tickets are always round-trip. The tickets can be used for unlimited stopovers, but every time you board a train a new "plackarta" (плацкарта) is needed. What is cool, the price is independent how good or bad the train is. It is important to know, Russian railway tariff is not one, but FOUR intependent tarifs! a) Domestic b) MGPT (МГПТ): to travel within former Soviet Union c) East-West: to travel from/to most European countries and also domestic Russian tickets bought in Europe d) MPT (МПТ, Earlier was called ЕМПТ) to travel to China/Korea/VietNam/Mongolia There are many ways to save on Russian domestic train tickets turning them into East-West ot MPT ticket!

THD Just Starting Joined: 15 Apr 2007 Posts: 8	Posted: Thu May 10, 2007 5:29 pm    Post subject: Hi, According some parts of the DB website (Germany) and the ÖBB website (Austria), the CityStar tickets are no longer vlaid for Russia and eurodomino will be replaced by Interrail (which will not cover russia). Is this correct? /THD

Is this correct? /THD The Domino is not valid, the CITY-STAR is sold by Slovak Rail, Bulgarian Rail and Serbian Rail service and it is valid as before. You have to buy it in Slovakia, Bulgaria, Serbia.

Can you tell me some more about the city star tickets from Slovakia? I'm flying to Budapest in August to go to the Sziget Festival, then I'll go to St Petersburg and stay there for four weeks and after that I plan to go by Transsiberian/Transmongolian to Beijing (and maybe back if the deal is good) How long is the ticket valid? Is it possible to book a ticket from, for example, Bratislava to St Petersburg to Beijing? This all would happen over the course of six weeks. I would also like to visit Sofia because my sister will be studying there, but I will probably fly from Beijing to Kiev and take a train from there.
