Yes, but just the fact that there are cases, proves that it's not okay in Canada. You cannot beat your wife your wife in Canada, or the US, with impunity. It is illegal to assault any one here. I'm not going to go tell India how to treat their people. That's their concern. |

I didn't say in that way. Its, "you can't abuse some one as if you scold your wife or vice versa". the relationship is mutual and not one sided. to me wife needs to be respected equally as they are our other side. Before the conjugal itself you have to wait for an opportunity to express about yourself, what you like and don'ts, your expectation. everything. after that you have to counsel her and negotiate certain things. generally she is expected to maintain the family decorum. generally my expectations will be, i'm not used to go to movie, theme park & mainly watching TV. My brother who is in Ohio, US doesn't have a cable TV, his kids can watch only DVD that too in week ends.

In India now the judicial system is very strict. there is no mercy from the court towards anybody who ever it may be. This happens particularly in TN. Even the central ministers have to speak properly, else they will receive a summon.

you have to interpret it properly. did anywhere its said that women beaten by a drunken husband. NO. you see some circumstances like wife will be in trouble when she disrespect her inlaws and then when she failed to take care of children. even the local news paper displayed wife scolded her husand just because he is not allowing her to watch TV and driving his car without having a proper license. there are even cases where hubby damage the TV permanenetly as wife didn't served meals when husband arrive late from office and wife simply wasting her time in TV.
